I suck at it.
No, okay, that’s not entirely true. I know people who are way worse at it than I am. But that doesn’t mean that I’m still bad at it. Oh, I go through my good periods but it ends up like exercising and dieting. I’m good for awhile, then I get bored with it and muck it up.
Is usually for good reasons. Recently, it’s because I’ve volunteered for too much. It’s all good, though. Aside from the writing and the web work that I’ve been doing for over a year now, I’ve recently taken on the running of two websites. ![]()
One is the MLR Press Author’s blog. The idea was getting bandied about in the MLR circles and I thought it was a thing that should be done. Now that it’s up and running, it’s actually not that much maintenance. But then, we’ve got to poke our authors to post more. That I did NOT volunteer for. I provided the space, I’m not good at the “they will come” part. At least not when it involves other people.
Then there’s the Rainbow Romance Writers. If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know that three of the lovely ladies here at FWF are on the board of this new RWA chapter. Was almost four, but for a technicality. And me? Well, I volunteered again. The website design and layout is mine and I’m the current reigning webmistress. And, if that wasn’t bad enough, I volunteered to be the newsletter editor as well. Still not real sure how that happeend. Oh, I volunteered all right, I can’t blame anyone but myself for that. I’m still mystified how it occurred to me that that would be kosher. But it’s too late to back out now. And that one, of course, is looking to be the biggest time suck of them all. But, again, a good cause. I wholeheartedly believe in the new chapter and I think it’s a marvelous step in the right direction for the romance genre in general.
So, yeah. Those two projects, on top of my own <counts> six web presences–let’s not forget I’m webmaster here as well, although this has pretty much run itself for awhile–plus the part time EDJ, plus my paying web job. Oh, and maybe, well, writing! Yeah, gotta stick some time in for that, huh? Dark Elves IV isn’t going to write itself, dang it. Oh, and then, to top it all off, I’ve recently gotten a Poser bug up my butt. I’ve got a seven part series–will be ten once I get the three uploaded that I haven’t yet–up on my website and I’m not really sure where it came from or where it’s going, but I’m having fun with it. It’s more technical playing for me than a real story, but there is something going on in a somewhat linear fashion.
So, time management. Again I say, I suck at it.

I think you’re doing admirably well, hon. You’ve got a lot on your plate! *hugs*
