Family values and erotic romance. Are these two things diametrically opposed? Not in my humble opinion. After all, how did we come about in the first place? Well, hopefully through sex and love.
I’ve been trying to write this article forever, and I’m not sure why it’s been so hard. It seemed up until our current administration ‘family values’ had become a catch word for ultra conservative morals. Sex was taboo, yet violence was everywhere. In movies, music, and TV shows. Was it a case of ‘Art imitating life?’ Violence in schools, TV news war coverage, innocent children and animals being subjected to horrible treatment… That is, to me, immoral.
Our new president and his wife aren’t afraid to show affection for each other on world television. Thank goodness! The new administration also seems better able to think and discuss delicate situations before they act. I’m hopeful for the first time in a long time that our world might be able to turn itself around.
More and more people are buying romance novels and the demand for erotic romance keeps growing. Is that reflective of art imitating life or of life turning to art to reframe its bleak reality. As long as we continue to make love, not war, I’m in. I think we’re headed in the right direction.

I so agree with you Ash. The movies and TV don’t think twice about showing unspeakable horrors, violence and depravity, but if you mention sex, well…sheesh…
But things are changing…and that can only be a good thing!
